The National Science and Technology Council (NSTC) is taking part in a training workshop organized by the Southern African Research and Innovation Management Association (SARIMA) in partnership with the West African Research and Innovation Management Association (WARIMA) in Lusaka.

The training is part of the Science Granting Councils Initiative (SGCI2) theme 1 programme titled: Strengthening of Practices and Resilience of Science Granting Councils in sub-Saharan Africa in Research and Grants Management.

The 3-day training is been facilitated by:

Talking Science: An NSTC Radio Series on Phoenix FM (Radio Phoenix)

The National Science and Technology Council (NSTC) is taking science communication to new heights with the launch of an exciting radio series entitled Talking Science - airing every Tuesday on Phoenix FM from 11:30 to 12:00 hrs, starting tomorrow 18th March 2025.

This initiative is designed to bring Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI) closer to the public, showcasing the critical role they play in shaping Zambia’s development. The program will feature groundbreaking research projects funded by NSTC, providing a platform for researchers to share their findings and explain how their work addresses some of the nation’s most pressing challenges.

As you may be aware, Science and technology is at the heart of progress, driving innovation in various sectors, from agriculture and health to energy and industry. However, many scientific breakthroughs and technological advancements often remain within academic circles, limiting their impact on the broader public. Talking Science aims to bridge this gap by making research accessible and relatable to everyone.

Each episode aired will feature a research project supported by the NSTC, bringing the listener insights into how science is solving real world problems. Whether it’s tackling energy deficits, enhancing food security, or developing new energy sources, Talking Science will highlight the tangible contributions of research to national development.

Through Talking Science radio series, the NSTC seeks to:
• Highlight Research Findings – Showcase innovative research and its direct impact on Zambia’s socio-economic growth.
• Address National Challenges – Discuss how scientific discoveries are helping to tackle critical challenges such as energy deficits.
• Engage the Public – Create awareness about the significance of STI in everyday life and encourage more public interest in scientific endeavours.
• Promote Science and Technology – Reinforce the Council’s mandate of promoting science and technology for national productivity, competitiveness and improved quality of life in Zambia
